E.ON ERC OS API Info Server

Welcome to the OS API Info Server

The OS API Info Server is a fast and convenient way to get information about current ressources used on our OpenStack cluster. The information is divided into four main chapters: Users, Projects, Resources and Top.

Users
In chapter Users information focusses on all or particular users or groups of users e.g. information about users themself or resources created by users.
Projects
In chapter Projects information focusses on all or particular projects or groups of projects e.g. information about projects themself or resources associated to the project.
Resources
In chapter Resources Information focusses on all resources or groups of resources e.g. lists of servers that are online or volumes that are not in use.
Top
The chaper Top is a collection of top-lists e.g. how often is a particular image used for creating servers.

Fast API Documentation

You can find the full api documentation for this service here.

Find all Resources used by disabled Projects

Finding resouces used by projects that have been disabled has always been a pain in the ass, since the OpenStack Dashboard won't let you see a compact collection of resources for a project unless you reenable it. This also means you have to reenable all projects if you are not sure what project the resources are allocated to.

Now you can find all the resources that are used by disabled projects here.

Find all Resources created by disabled Users

Finding all resouces created by users that have been disabled is not directly supported by the OpenStack Dashboard or the command line tools.

Now you can find all the resources that where created by disabled users here.

Find all Users that did not create Resources

Finding users that did not create even one instance of the actual still existing resources is not possible neither via the OpenStack Dashbord, nor via the OpenStack command line tools.

Now you can find all the users that did not create any of the (still existing) resourceshere.

Unused Resources

Find all Floating IPs allocated but not associated to any server

Floating IPs are a rare resource, thus fast spotting potentially wasted Floating IPs is crucial. A complete list of Floating IPs that are not really in use can be found here and potentially also here.

Find all Volumes created but not reserved or attached to any server

Most of the time Volumes that are available for a longer time, especially those whithout given readable names, have been forgotten and potentially will never be used. A complete list of Volumes that are not really in use can be found here.

Find all Images not used by and not created from any existing server

Images which either are not used by servers or are not created from servers (as backup) potentially are of no value any more. A complete list of Images that are not really in use can be found here.
